This song was composed for a show dedicated to Pastor Henry Hearns' life story, How Odds Even Through Grace, developed through the Justice Sunday Project. The song attempts to tell the story of his great-great-grandfather's separation from his mother during slavery and his subsequent life growing up holding on to a scrap of his mother's calico dress.
